Winter Elevator 12mm

The Winter elevator from Equate Instruments is a cross-bar surgical instrument designed for elevation and luxation of retained roots and fractured apical fragments. The flag-shaped working blade sits on an angled shank that aligns the working tip with the long axis of the root, loading torsional force through the handle to break periodontal attachment. The distinctive cross-bar handle is knurled centrally for grip and extends to smooth lateral balusters, giving the operator the mechanical advantage needed for controlled rotation in tight posterior sockets. The instrument is milled from high-grade stainless steel, is corrosion-resistant, and is fully autoclavable for daily reuse. Supplied non-sterile for in-office steam sterilisation.

Questions about root elevators

What is a Root Elevator used for?

A dental elevator is a hand instrument that loosens a tooth or root in its socket before extraction. Its blade is worked into the space between root and bone, and gentle rotation or leverage widens the socket. Luxators are thinner elevators that cut the periodontal ligament. Periosteal elevators are different instruments that lift the gum and periosteum from bone.

What is the difference between an elevator and a luxator?

An elevator loosens the tooth by wedging and rotation. A luxator has a thinner, sharper blade that cuts the periodontal ligament as it's pushed along the root, and it shouldn't be used to lever.

Why do Cryer elevators come in pairs?

Their triangular blades point in opposite directions, so the right and left versions reach roots on either side of the mouth or on either side of an empty root socket.

Serrated Apical Elevator 2.5mm - Pink Silicone Handle

This serrated apical elevator is a slim, single-ended luxating instrument for elevating retained root fragments and fractured apical tips. The stainless-steel working tip is machined with transverse serrations so it bites into sclerotic dentine and gutta-percha, letting the surgeon transmit controlled rotational force without the tip skating out of the socket. The bulbous silicone-sleeved handle is shaped for a pen-grip or palm-grip and uses a soft, non-slip coating that stays secure when wet. Equate Instruments supplies the elevator non-sterile for in-clinic sterilisation, and the stainless-steel shaft is fully autoclavable.

Bernard Root Elevator - 4mm Green Silicone Handle

The Bernard Root Elevator 4mm is a contra-angled surgical instrument for luxating retained root tips and expanding socket walls during dental extraction. The 4mm angled working end delivers directed force into the periodontal space, while the ergonomic white silicone-sleeved handle absorbs grip pressure and improves control during repeated rotational movements. The stainless-steel tip is fully autoclavable with the handle intact, and the high-contrast green inlay offers clear instrument identification on procedure trays. Supplied non-sterile by Equate Instruments for in-clinic processing.

The Bayonet Distal Luxator is a narrow elevator used to cut the periodontal ligament and luxate the tooth distally during atraumatic extractions. Its bayonet-shaped shank reaches along the distal aspect of the root while the sharp tapered working end severs the ligament fibres with controlled axial pressure, preserving the buccal plate during extraction preparation. This Equate Instruments luxator is built on a bulbous silicone-sleeved handle with an orange identification band for colour-coded sorting. Crafted from stainless steel with a polished working end, it is autoclavable and supplied non-sterile for in-clinic processing.
